Good day all,

Once again our recruitment period has passed and we await the good news of our new secondary ones joining us. This year even though it literally rained on our parade, the turn out was amaing at 100 +/- students that signed up, our highest in the years. As usual, we had the fire wok set up by the amazing SCDF officers.

We started our recruitment with a bang as SCDF personnel used the Impulse gun on the fire wok. Following which, students started to come over to our exhibition to try out the fire extinguishers.

A little different from previous years, we had a short footdrill performance put up by our very own sec 4s, which also actively helped out to gather our many new secondary one students.

Along with our usual items at the booth such as the proficiency badge and ranks display, we had the luxury of getting the Breathing Apparatus suit with the fire fighting suit, coupled with the water mist gun for display. With these items and our awesome cadets that recruited the secondary ones with the undying passion in them, we were able to interest many students.

With that cheers to our unit and the awesome cadets that made it what it is!!

Hey guys! Since the new year is just tomorrow, I thought it'll be appropriate to post about next year. Starting next year, we will have a new CLT with us, CLT Gerard! He has completed his CLT course while you guys were having your december holidays and now he is back to help us. In the coming year we hope to be able to update our blog once per training or at the least once per month. Also for all cadets, do encourage your fellow Montfort cadets to visit our blog and chat in the Chatbox. : ) That's all for now see you next year!

Dear Cadets,

As you may know, last Friday was our Sec 4s POP. They stepped down on that very day so as to focus more on their GCE 'O' and 'N' Levels. It has been an honor being led by Charlie Squad 2007. Do appreciate their hard work in making you guys who you are now. Last Friday also marks the swearing in of our Sec 1s into this Unit and the stepping in of the Sec 3s in which they'll fill up the leadership roles left vacant after our beloved Sec 4s pass out. Lets hope us Sec 3s will lead the unit as good as the Sec 4s or if even possible, better than them. I've already uploaded the photos of the POP on Facebook so feel free to check up on it. Do wish your Sec 4s luck for their upcoming national exams !

Hey guys this monday we had our 4th Annual Unit Bbq!!! However there's no such thing as all play and no work right? so our guys had some parade trainings in school to prepare themselves for the upcoming Sec 4 Passing Out Parade. This Bbq also marks as a farewell to our Sec 4s who are taking their national exams this year. well since a picture speaks a thousand words, I'll let the pictures do the talking instead.

Hope everyone is settling in the new school nicely.

This is the 5th year NCDCC has been in Montfort.

And hopefully we are getting another Gold award for

this year's UOPA again.

But we have to remember that, it doesnt matter even

if we dont get gold. Whats most important is your teamwork and

friendship you have build over the years.

This year's NCDCC would be different , because of the new location.

Because we dont have our CPT Pang and LTA Hozefa with us.

So guys , its important that we respect our new OC, CPT Wee.

Because he will be the one leading us with us SNCOs

and the next batch of SNCOs, which will be your Sec 3s this year.

So make sure you give them the due respect .

Other then that, I wish you all good luck in your studies

this year and dont dissapoint us in whatever you do !

Hey Cadets.
I hope your exam results are great.

Anyway, all of you sould know by now
that next wednesday will be our last
training of the year and we will have the
change of command parade where CPT Pang will hand
over authority to LTA Wee .
Thus, LTA Wee will lead our unit after CPT Pang steps down.
Sadly, Next week's training will be LTA Hozefa's last training with
all of us.

Sec 2s and 3s and previous batches, all of us know that
LTA Hozefa and CPT Pang brought many changes to this unit,
Many Significant changes.
Too bad for the sec 1 batch for 2010 , is that they would
not have LTA Hozefa and CPT Pang's guidence to help them along.
Like the rest of us did.

So cadets and fellow sec 3 teammates.
Lets make their last training with us a memorial one for them.
Put on a great show during the parade .
And thank them whenever you have the chance to on wednesday.
Thank them for changing our lives, changing our view of life
and most importantly, thank them for making this unit what it is now.

Hey Cadets!
Last Sunday, was the Passing Out Parade for the Unit Drill Instructor Course.
Two Montfort SNCOs went for the course and had sucessfully completed the course!
Those Two are, CSM Gerard Tan And ASM Shaun Chia
They went through a grueling 4 day course at HTA, going through drills
drills and more drills!!
They learnt how to teach drills too.
So the next time you see them wearing their Full U.
You'll see them wearing the White And Orange Lanyard.
Congrats to them both!

Hey people, This is SSG Dzul posting on this
prestigious MFSS NCDCC blog for the first time. So bear with me (:

As you all know, we just had our 3rd Annual Investiture Parade.
Personally, every time we have an investiture parade, i will look back
at the first investiture parade. And realised how much we have grown in
just a short period of 2-3 years. Maybe my fellow sec 3s and Officers who
has been in this unit since its start will agree with me.
Lets talk about all three investitures that i have been through.And note down
how different it was.

Our First Investiture, I still remember. The GOH marched out with the
song from star wars. And Promotion took place at the same time as the parade.
Our Parade Commander for that parade was LTA Hozefa.
CSM, Caleb Castro was GOH Commander. 5 SNCOs were given their post.

Our Second Investiture , Unfortunately it literary rained on our parade.
But we still had a sucessful parade. Parade Commander was our WO Fredrick.
And as the same as last year, Supporting Contingent didnt march out.
But the parade was grander. Again, 5 SNCOs were given their post.

Our Third Investiture,Thankfully It didnt rained like last year.
This was our most sucessful parade to date. As the first time,
Principal attended the parade for the first time.
The Montfort Unit flag was also shown to Montfort for the first time.
And the supporting Contingents marched out for the first time!
And for the first time in Montfort, 8 SNCOs were given their Post
Parade commander, SSG Gerard Tan And Much thanks to Montfort Band
for providing drums to the parade! Thanks to the AV Crew too.
All of you have helped out in this parade alot. Making it a bigger sucess!

As you can see, Montfort has seriously grown alot. From almost nothing, We have
got the gold award. One of the reasons why we got it? Its our Heritage.
We have become a fomidable unit , a force not to be reckoned with.
No longer will we be be underestimated as long as everyone of us uphold
the unique Montfort Standard.

However , With good news , comes the bad news.
After 4 years of sevice in NCDCC , LTA Hozefa will be leaving Montfort, NCDCC and Singapore
to further his studies overseas for three years.
And CPT Pang will be transfered to MOE HQ.
On Behalf of the whole unit, I thank LTA Hozefa and CPT Pang, for shaping this unit to
what it has become today. Thanks for all the memories, be it good or bad. Because we know
what you do to us, Its for our own good.

Dear Cadets,

Firstly, congratulations to all of you on the occasion of the Montfort NCDCC Unit being awarded the GOLD Award for the UOPA. This is the first time that NCDCC is conducting a UOPA and our unit has made history by being the first four schools to win the Gold Award ever in the history of NCDCC.

This certainly could not have been possible without the hard work that all of you and your seniors that have passed out have put in to make our unit what it is today. Everytime you attended trainings, studied hard for a proficiency badge, took part in a community service activty, took part in activities organised by HQ NCDCC, you have helped the unit take one step closer towards the gold award.

Credit also goes to the sec 4 batch that passed out last year. They were the pioneer batch of the unit and all of them worked hard to make NCDCC what it is today.

Many of you would remember the hard work you put in and all the time you sacrificed for events such as the Founders' Day GOH last year, the Investitutre Parades, National Day Parades, Community Bonding Days, camps and training. All you effort has borne fruit right now.

A lot of credit also goes to our officers who have worked so hard to make this unit a successful one, especially our OC, Cpt Kevin Pang who has steered the unit towards excellance.

But remember one thing. The Gold Award is really about the passion you bring with you to this CCA. The enthusiasm you show, the friendships you have built, the teamwork you practice and the excellance you portray is the real reason we got this award.

We worked as a team together to achieve this. Now let us go soar higher towards many golds ahead!

On Saturday 4 cadets represented our unit in the Inter-Unit Bowling Competition held at the Chervrons
Our participants were SSG Frederick, SSG Timothy, SGT Firdaus and CPL Timothy

The team managed to make it into the finals which consisted of 8 teams
And our CSM SSG Fred got 4 strikes in a row!

Dear Cadets,

In less than a week, we will have our most important event of the year, the Annual Montfort Secondary School NCDCC Unit Investiture Parade 2008.

This week will be full of practices and we will have lots of work to do to polish up our drills on the parade square to preparing the logistics required for the parade.

Most of you will be receiving badges and awards. Your parents have been invited to the parade and the officers look forward to meeting them.

Please work hard to make this parade the best one possible!

I would also like to inform you that Mr Vincent Wong will be joining our unit. Some of you may have seen him at the last Saturday's training. Let us all warmly welcome him into the NCDCC family.

I will be away at Bangkok till the 22nd of August representing Singapore in the East Asian Youth Leader's Forum. Please do your best while I'm away and look forward to seeing a perfect parade when I see you guys at the camp on Friday.

Dear Cadets,

Firstly, I would like to wish all of you a very Happy National Day.

5 Cadets form the Charlie squad did the unit, the school and NCDCC proud by representing NCDCC together with cadets from other schools in the National Day Parade 2008 by being part of the NCDCC contingent in the parade.

These five cadets, LCP Dzul, LCP Zhang Lin, LCP Arjun, LCP Han Jie and LCP Jie Ying worked very very hard over the past few months, sacrificing their time to attend the rehearsals and practice their drills over and over again together with personnel from other contingents. After many rehearsals, NE Shows and Previews, they performed magnificently together with the other NCDCC cadets during the NDP itself. Here are some photos:

I hope that all you you realise the significance of National Day. Our forefathers have worked very hard to make this country a home for us. It is our duty to ensure the survival of Singapore and make Singapore our best home. All of you, being members of the National Civil Defence Cadet Corps, play an important role in Total Defence in Singapore. You cadets are are important part of Civil Defence, spreading our message of readiness to your fellow countrymen.

When you put on your uniform, put it on with pride and utmost respect as the uniform signifies your service and contribution to the nation. Being a NCDCC cadet is no small thing. We are actively contributing to the nation and ensuring our survival. On this National Day, let us commit ourselves to our country and the defence of its people.

Today a group of 7 Montfortian NCDCC cadets truly lived up to the motto of the school by being men for others. They sacrificed their Sunday and precious free time to be part of a charity event, "WAFF: The Carnival". WAFF: The Carnival is a novel fundraising charity carnival that aims to educate the public about craniofacial conditions and raise funds to help children with such conditions. This is a collaborative project between students from the NUS University Scholars Programme (USP) and Operation Smile Singapore in aid of the Kandang Kerbau Hospital Cleft and Craniofacial Centre (KKH CCRC).

The NCDCC cadets from our unit provided first aid support for the event held at the *Scape Youtn Park. Starting as early as 8am in the morning till 8.30pm at night, these cadets did the unit proud. Their dedication and selflessness won praise from the event's guest-of-honour, Mr Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Community, Youth and Sports. He was pleased to see our cadets hard at work and being part of a worthwhile effort.

This blog is finally being updated by someone other than LTA Hozefa

Yesterday was the very first training the sec 3's organized after going through SNCO course

Training was not really tough but more on the fun side

We started of with a very non strenuous PT

Then it was time for some activities

There were 2 groups. Both had a mixture of sec 1's and sec 2's

Mike and Whisky

There were altogether 4 stations

2 in school and another 2 in Punggol Park

In school there were the Trust and rescue stations

The Trust station was basically guiding your fellow squad mates while they're blindfolded over a series of obstacles

In the rescue station, the sec 2's were given and opportunity to practise their leadership skills by demonstrating the different rescue techniques

2 sec 1's would be casualties and the sec 2's had to demonstrate how to rescue them before the sec 1's attempt it

This allowed the sec 2's to have early practice of teaching and the sec 1's to have early exposure to Rescue techniques which they would be learning next year

On to Punggol park

There were the Fitness and Teamwork stations

In the fitness station the cadets did push ups, sit ups etc

In the Teamwork station, they really had quite a difficult time

There were 13 boxes, each made of masking tape placed on the floor

The whole group had to cross over these boxes in a specific path while holding hands (Yes the sec 3's made them do it)

Only 2 feet could be in 1 box at anytime

So they really had to rack their brains. Especially at the "Junctions"

There was a round 2 where they could not communicate at all

At the end of the day, everyone was tired but had fun

The groups were being graded and the winning group was Mike

And the runner up was Whisky

The sec 3's hope that everyone learnt something and that relations between the sec'1 and 2's improved

Hey cadets!

Hope you guys are enjoying your holidays. I think many of you have had the opportunity to participate in many exciting civil defence, leadership and adventure activities over the last few weeks through ncdcc.

Some of you were part of the very exciting 'Exercise Northstar'. This exercise simulated a scenario where a cruise ship was on fire and a mass casualty event occured. Many of you had related to your officers how much you had learnt seeing SCDF officers working with many related agencies to ensure that the 'casualties' were evacuated quickly and that many many lives were saved. For those of you who had missed this exciting opportunity, not to worry, NCDCC will provide many more such exciting opportunities ahead!

Six sec 1 cadets went for the Adventure Challenge organised by HQ NCDCC at the HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok Adventure Centre. I'm sure they had a lot of fun their pushing their limits, overcoming their fears and making many new friends with cadets from other units.

Last week, a 2-day 1-night leadership training camp was organised for selected sec 3 cadets who were earmarked for promotion to Staff Sergeant and to become the new leaders of the unit. The camp was organised by Cpt Kevin Pang, Lta Hozefa, WO Caleb castro and WO Johnathan Ng. The trainees went through team building activities, a scenario based exercise, footdrill training, MOI and a night hike.

This week, the cadets that were trained in the leadership training camp attended a 5-day SNCO course organised by HQ NCDCC at the Home Team Academy. There they learnt about being a better leader by inspiring their cadets to greatness, footdrills (Gold badge), MOI and many various aspects of being a good SNCO. They were awarded their certificates of completion by Commandant NCDCC, LTC Lim Kah Seng.

For the cadets from Bravo and Delta, if you aspire to be SNCOs just like your seniors, work hard over the next 1-2 years and one day you will emerge as leaders just like them!

My Dear Cadets,

I would like to thank all of you for making yesterday's sec 4 ROD ceremony a successful one. The attendance at the parade yesterday was very good. It was almost full attendance and I could see that all of you had really put in a lot of effort into making your uniforms look smart for the ROD ceremony and parade.

The speeches you all gave in appreciation of your seniors were very touching and well written as well.

I am sure that the Sec 4s are very thankful for the effort that you have put into showing your appreciation to them.

With this type of enthusiasm from all of you, I am sure that the Montfort NCDCC will soar to much much greater heights. The sec 3s will be taking over the unit soon. I trust all of the Charlie and Delta squad members will give them their fullest support.

My Dear Cadets,

This Saturday, our pioneer batch of cadets, the secondary 4 cadets will be passing out and Montfort NCDCC unit will conduct its first ever ROD parade. The ROD parade will signal the end of the sec 4's service as cadets and will allow us to say goodbye to them and show them our appreciation for all that they have done for the unit and for us.

For the sec 4s, I hope that all of you will be able to come down for the special ROD stayover this Friday night. It will definitely be an amazing experience.

For all the other cadets, I hope that all of you will make the effort to come down this Saturday. It would be nice to show your appreciation to the sec 4s for all that they have done by simply coming down and being present. Your SNCOs in particular have done a lot for you. Please do be there. I'm sure when you pass out from NCDCC, you will also want your juniors to be there to show their appreciation to you.

FOUDNER'S DAY IS FINALLY OVER!!!

There won't be training till exams are over which is the 17th of May

My Dear Cadets,

In less than a week, our unit will have the honour and privilege of being the Guard-of-Honour during the parade segment of Montfort School's Founders' Day. It will be the first time in the short history of our unit that we will be forming the Guard of Honour on such a special occasion. Obviously, the expectations are high and the responsibility given to us is large. We will be representing not only the unit but also the whole school in front of the special guests, VIPs, parents and other stakeholders in the school. It is essential for us to understand this honour and responsibility that has been given to us as we march onto the parade square in our whites.

You guys have been nothing but amazing. The amount of effort that you have put into this is commendable. You guys have put in sweat, tears and blood into ensuring that not only will you not let the school down but also make the school proud that it has such an amazing NCDCC unit. You guys have sacrificed every Tuesday and Thursday morning, coming down to school really early in the morning to go through tough training. Every Saturday you had longer training sessions with our drill Instructors from NCDCC HQ. Not to forget the 2 days you sacrificed during the March holidays to go all the way down to HTA to learn how to do drills with the water mist gun. You guys have not only survived, but you have have thrived and the other officers and myself are very proud of you. You are truly Montfortian Gentlemen and Monfortian Giants!

However, you know as well as I do that the journey is far from over. In fact, we will now go through the last and toughest part of the journey. In the run up to the Founder's Day, our training will intensify. More effort will be required on our part. We are so close to our goal of being the best GOH that Montfort has ever seen. We cannot give up now. We have to push ahead and ensure that nothing can deter us from achieving our prize, nothing can stop us from our final destination. I know that all of you are up to the challenge and I know that all of you will give more than your very best in the days to come.

A few tips to help you in the days ahead:
(1) Drink lots of water
People keep forgetting to hydrate themselves. Drink a few glasses of water at night to clean your system. Keep drinking water throughout the day. At least 8 glasses of water and more on the days that you are training.
(2) Start polishing your boots
Do not polish your boots at the last minute. Keep the last minute strictly for resting. Polish your boots now so that you only have to do a bit of touching up on the day itself.
(3) Get enough sleep
Ensure that you guys sleep at least eight hours a day. Do not stay up late over the next few days especially on days when you have training. This is important for you not to fall sick. Your exams will be coming after Founders' day and you don't want to be ill for them.

1 MORE WEEK TILL FOUNDER'S DAY!!!
Today's training was tough but we managed to pull through
Well our marching was'nt perfect but i'm sure we can improve

Sir Hozefa asked me to convey this message(not his exact words):
You all have been working hard and I can see that you all have been putting in alot of effort.
The finish line is near and you all need to now accelerate towards the finish line
there's just 8 days left
so let's go all the way forward together and give the best GOH Montfort has ever seen!

This blog hasn't been updated for a while so I'll update it now

Last Friday, 11th April was NCDCC day
unfortunately we had no parade cos of the heavy rain
We wore our uniform with pride for the whole day and even during the founder's day rehearsal after school.

As you all know founders day is less than 2 weeks away
So just endure a while longer and it'll be all over
i think NCDCC will be the best G.O.H Montfort has ever seen :D
Lets work hard to achieve that goal

We were on first aid duty(as usual) yesterday during sports day

All first aider's did a great job and especially SGT Frederick who was the I.C for the day

Casualties were not very severe and almost nobody fell down XD

Good job in safeguarding the lives of our fellow montfortians

TODAY

We had the honour of Encik Haramian and Encik Firdaus(from the police force who helps out with SYF) in school to help us today during training

Although training was tough, we persevered through (Although i almost fainted XP. My fault for not drinking enough water)

To all cadets, continue working hard and we will achieve our goal
